After graduating from SUNY Brockport, I was hired by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol officer in 1988. I worked my way up through the ranks of the department and have served as the Undersheriff to Sheriff York since 2012. I am honored to say that Sheriff York fully supports my candidacy and will gladly serve as a reference to my capabilities.
As the Undersheriff, I am second in command of all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. My responsibilities include preparing and managing a nearly 25 million dollar budget, supervising personnel, managing contracts, grant management and serving as a point of contact for public communication. I also work very closely with our public officials on a daily basis, ensuring the needs of Warren County citizens are being met. Some of my recent accomplishments include implementing and managing the following: Narcan Program, Emergency Response Team, Emergency Radio System Upgrade project, School Resource Officer Program, Internship program, Re-Entry Coordinator program, and State of the Art 911 Center.
Should I be elected Sheriff, I will build upon the programs that we have implemented while continually evaluating the needs of the public and the department in order to provide the best service to the community while maintaining officer safety. Some of my immediate goals will be to expand the “community approach” to the opioid crisis and provide additional training to address the issues resulting from the legalization of marijuana. To assist with these tasks, I have asked William “Bill” S. Sprague, who is a highly respected, retired member of the law enforcement community, to be my Undersheriff. Mr. Sprague served with the New York State Police for 34 years, retiring in 2012 at the rank of Major. He offers a wealth of knowledge and will continue to promote interagency cooperation.
